Do you know who created the first electric motor? British scientist, chemist, inventor and physicist, Michael Faraday (1791-1867)! In 1822, he built a device using liquid mercury (which conducts electricity) and a magnet that turned electrical energy into mechanical energy and created the world’s first electric motor. He is especially known for “Faraday’s Law” and his studies of electromagnetism. In 1836, he invented the Faraday cage which variations thereof can be used today to protect from EMF radiation.
